Rakib murder: Court grants 3-day to grill Beauty Begum
06 August 2015, Nirapad News: A Khulna Court has granted police three days to grill Beauty Begum, one of the three accused in the Rakib Hawladar murder case.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Faruk Iqbal gave the order on Thursday in response to a 10-day remand plea by the police, investigating officer SI Kazi Mostaque Ahmed Jalil probing the 12-year-old’s murder told bdnews24.com.
Beauty Begum, 55, is the mother of Sharif, the repair shop owner who tortured Rakib, causing his death.
She was present at the time of the atrocity but had done nothing to stop her son or his uncle Mintu Mia, 40, the two others accused in the case.
Public Prosecutor Kazi Abu Shahin told the court it was necessary to question her to find out whether Rakib had been killed because of a previous enmity or other reasons.
Rakib used to work at Sharif Motors and left the job some time back to join a competitor’s garage because of mistreatment and abusive behaviour of his employers.
Rakib’s mother claimed that to be the reason behind the murder.
The duo, Rakib’s former employers, inserted a high-pressure air pump nozzle into his rectum and filled the body with air, tearing the boy’s intestines and lungs and causing his death.
Locals caught all three immediately after Rakib’s death on Aug 3. The child’s father accused them of murder in a case he filed the next day.
Iqbal said, “We will appeal for remand of Sharif and Mintu, the other two accused, once they recover.”
