08 February 2016, Nirapad News: Tamim Iqbal‘s Peshawar Zalmi are off to a winning start in the inaugural season of Pakistan Super League (PSL), as the fan favourites beat Islamabad United by 24 runs on Friday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Thanks to a steady run-a-ball knock of 51 runs from the Bangladeshi dashing opener, Peshawar were able to set a challenging target of 142 runs for the Misbah-ul-Haq’s side, which eventually proved too much the Men in Red.
Tamim Iqbal was the highest scorer the match, scoring 51 runs with as many balls to power his side to a good total. Though the southpaw batsman struggled for some time, he stuck around unlike others and hit three fours and a six for his 51.
Chasing a relatively easy target, Islamabad were restricted to just 121 for 9. Asghar Ali and Wahab Riaz took three wickets each. Tamim was awarded USD 1500 for playing the most colourful innings of the match.
