Rana Plaza collapse, Building inspector Awlad sent to jail
08 February 2016, Nirapad News: A court in Dhaka sent Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) building inspector Md Awlad Hossain to jail rejecting his bail petition in the case for Rana Plaza collapse that killed over 1,100 people in April, 2013.
After hearing the bail petition, court of senior judicial magistrate Shahjadi Tahmida passed the order on Monday noon (February 8).
Earlier in the day, Awlad surrendered before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court and sought bail.
On June 1, 2015 more than two years after the Rana Plaza building collapse, police submitted murder charges against 41 people, including the building’s owner Sohel Rana, for their alleged roles in the collapse.
