Ranga to bring govt facilities for development of Gangachara
02 March 2016, Nirapad News: State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development & Cooperatives Alhaj Moshiur Rahman Ranga has said all government facilities would be brought to Gangachara upazila for development and improving life standard of local people.
“The people of Gangachara upazila know how to survive through struggling with devastating erosion and floods of the river Teesta,” he said adding that they also know to improve their fortune if provided with necessary facilities and assistance.
He was addressing launching ceremony of fourth phase of the epoch- making National Service Programme (NSP) at Gangachara Degree College ground at Gangachara upazila town on Tuesday to create jobs for unemployed educated male and female youths as the chief guest.
The upazila administration and Department of Youth Development (DYD) organised the function to launch training courses for the selected 4,234 educated male and female youths to turn them into skilled workforces before appointing under the NSP.
With Gangachara Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rashedul Haque in the chair, Deputy Director of the DYD for Rangpur Dilgir Alam, Gangachara upazila chairman Asaduzzaman Bablu and General Secretary of upazila Jatiya Party Shamsul Alam addressed as special guests.
Ranga said the present government led by Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly for developing the country and improving life standard of the common people, including people of natural disaster-, flood- and erosion-prone Gangachara upazila.
“We have already turned 50 per cent of the ‘kutcha’ roads into ‘pacca’ in Gangachara upazila where road carpeting works have been continuing at Taka 100 crore,” he said.
Besides, a proposal for constructing flood control embankments on the Teesta riverbank at Taka 137 crore has also been placed before the government for saving the people of Gangachara upazila from devastating floods and river erosion, he said.
According to officials sources, the selected 4,234 youths would be provided with 3-month basic training on different modules in three phases before appointing them for two years in different departments and institutions of Gangachara upazila.
The master trainers have been conducting their training course on skill building, various trades, disaster management and social services, basic computer knowledge, various government services in different sectors.
Besides, they have been providing training on healthcare, sanitation, family planning, education, physical education and exercises, agriculture, forestry and environment, public security, law and order and welfare services of the union and upazila parishads.
Earlier, the government launched the NSP in 2010 to fulfill its pre-election pledge of freeing the unemployed educated youths from unemployment through creating jobs for at least one member in each family to build a prosperous society free from poverty.
