Rani Mukerji and Aditya Chopra has their first child, a daughter!

09 December 2015, Nirapad News: Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji gave birth to a baby girl today, December 9 in the morning, at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.  Rani Mukerji is married to YRF head Aditya Chopra and the couple have named their daughter Adira (Adi+Ra! Now, that is pretty adorable!).

Rani Mukerji released a statement and said that Adira’s birth has been “God’s greatest gift”.

The 37-year-old actress expressed her happiness and said, “I would like to thank all my well wishers and fans. Today life has given us God’s greatest gift with Adira. We thank fans our friends and well wishers for their unconditional support and blessings. With joy we begin this new chapter in our lives.”

The couple tied the knot in hush-hush ceremony on April 21, 2014, in Italy, and had been keeping the pregnancy under wraps for quite some. So much so that Mukerji even skipped durga puja celebrations this year!

The actress was expecting her first child by January next year, but it seems the good news has arrived a bit early. Rani was already admitted to Breach Candy hospital after Diwali in order to keep her under supervision of doctors. Later she was being discharged, but chose to rest in the hospital for few more days, as the baby’s room was being prepared at her home and she wanted to be away from the dust and noise. Well, now that this good news has arrived, we wish for her good health!

They are both accomplished in their fields of acting and filmmaking in Bollywood. Adira is the couple’s first child. It is the first marriage for Rani while Aditya, who is known to be a very private person, was previously married to Payal Khanna but they got divorced in 2009.

Aditya’s younger brother Uday Chopra announced the birth of his niece on Twitter: “ITÂ’S A GIRL!!!!!”
