RC Cola’s factory closed for environmental pollution

21 May 2015, Nirapad News: The administration on Wednesday closed the factory of Partex Group’s soft drink RC Cola in Gazipur for polluting the environment.

An investigation committee, led by additional district magistrate, also was constituted to probe into the matter.

Deputy Commissioner M Nurul Islam made the move while visiting the factory of RC Cola at Bahadurpur area at noon.

Satyajit Das, Assistant Commissioner of Gazipur Deputy Commissioner’s Office, told that Deputy Commissioner Nurul Islam visited the area after receiving complaints from local people that the production wastage is polluting the agricultural land in a large scale.

During the time, he found the complaints as true and ordered to close production till the next order, Satyajit Das added.

He also said the DC formed a 5-member investigation committee to probe into the matter with directives to submit report within five working days.

Additional district magistrate Mohammad Hossain and environment directorate deputy director Sonia Sultana, among others, were present during the visit.
