Reckless remarks, irresponsible politics are big crises : Quader
14 November 2015, Nirapad News: Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader today termed reckless remarks and irresponsible (senseless) politics as the big crises for the country nowadays.
“The biggest problem of the politicians of our country is their reckless remarks, which goes beyond limit when they talk. Besides, another problem is senseless politics they usually pursue,” the minister said adding: “If we fail to control these two, we will move towards a big disaster.”
Obaidul Quader said this while speaking at the reunion of Dhaka University Political Science Department Alumni Association at Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) of the university.
The association organised its general meeting and accorded reception to the distinguished persons at its reunion. As it was a weekly holiday, the reunion virtually turned into a joyous gathering of merriment and festivity of the old and present students of the department.
The minister said, “The war of liberation is our inseparable glory and our common enemy is poverty while our common danger is religious extremism.” He was of the view that those who have been vitiating the national politics by spreading communal feelings should be contained at any cost.
Obaidul Quader said, “Though I am a nominated minister of a particular party, I harbour the belief that I am not a minister of any party, rather I am a minister of the country.”
Turning to political division in the country, the minister said, “We are constructing the country’s largest bridge over the river Padma from our own funds (resources) but we have failed to bridge the gap between ourselves as there are many divisions in today’s politics.”
The association president Rezaul Huq Chowdhury Mostaque chaired the function, also addressed, among others, by Rezaul Kabir, Mizanur Rahman and MA Bari.
Four former distinguished students of the Political Science Department of Dhaka University were accorded reception at the function.
