Recruitment tests of 8 state-run banks cancelled
16 January 2018, Nirapad News: The bankers’ selection committee of Bangladesh Bank (BB) today cancelled the recruitment tests for eight state-run banks in response to the demand of candidates for taking fresh exams as there were mismanagements during the exams on January 12.
“The selection committee has canceled the requirement tests in a meeting with BB Governor Fazle Kabir,” BB Communications and Publications Department General Manager GM Abul Kalam Azad told journalists after the meeting at the central bank headquarters in the city.
He said a five-member investigation committee, led by BB Executive Director Ahmed Jamal, has been formed to investigate the mismanagement that took place during the requirement test.
Other members of the investigation committee are the representatives of Sonali Bank, Janata Bank, RAKUB and the Ministry of Finance, he added.
A general manager of the central bank will work as the member secretary of the committee, he said, adding, the committee will have to submit its report within the next two weeks.
Abul Kalam Azad also said the bankers’ selection committee will seek explanation to the concerned department of the Dhaka University that was assigned to hold the requirement tests, about the mismanagement during the exams.
“After that, the selection committee will fix the next date for taking the requirement tests,” he added.
Earlier, the candidates protested against the recruitment tests of January 12. Nearly 6,000 candidates could not appear at the exams due to mismanagement. They demanded holding fresh exams for all the candidates.
