RMG export going on despite hartal-blockade says Tofail Ahmed
10 February 2015, Nirapad News: Tuesday, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed told on Parliament that the supply of RMG raw materials, its production and export are going on despite the hartal, blockade and violence.
“Now there’s no labour unrest in the RMG sector,” the minister said replying to a starred question from Mamunur Rashid Kiron.
The export growth in RMG during the first half of the current fiscal was 0.77 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, he added.
Replying to another starred question from Monowara Begum (Women Seat-17), Tofail said Bangladesh exported 729 products in 2013-’14 fiscal and the value of total export of the products was some $ 30,187 million.
Meanwhile, Food Minister Quamrul Islam told the House that the issue of rice export to northeastern region of India is under government’s consideration.
Bangladesh has achieved the capacity of rice export, he said in reply to a starred question from Waresat Hossain Belal (Netrakona-5).
Bangladesh has recently exported 25,000 metric tonnes of rice to Sri Lanka at the G-to-G level, he added.
Answering to another question from Zabunnasa Afroz (Barisal-5), the Food Minister said a total of 12.56 lakh metric tonnes of rice and wheat is there in stocks in government godowns now.
The amount of stored rice is 11.69 lakh metric tonnes and that of stored wheat is 87,000 metric tonnes, he noted.
