RMG worker’s death sparks vandalism

12 October 2015, Nirapad News: A readymade garments (RMG) worker was killed in a road accident in Ashulia of Savar on Monday morning that resulted vandalism on highway.

The deceased was identified as Phoolbanu (32), an operator of Ayesha Clothing of Palman Group and wife of one Ayub Ali of Gopalpur village of Tangail district.

Witnesses said that a human hauler of Grameen Seba Paribahan rammed into the RMG worker leaving her dead on the spot.

Later, after listening to the news agitated RMG workers blocked the Baipal-Abdullahpur Highway and vandalized at least 20 vehicles.

Moreover, the RMG workers set fire on three human haulers of Grameen Seba Paribahan. Later, fire service units came to the spot and doused the fire.

Several RMG factories in the area were declared closed flowing the incident.

Ashulia Thana Officer-in-charge (OC) Mohsin Qader confirmed the matter.

Police have seized the vehicle but could not detain its driver, he added.

According to the OC, a case has been filed in this regard.
