Jessore-bound Nosiman’s condition after head-on collision with the truck

 

Jessore, 13 December 2014, Nirapad News : Four people, including a student of Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST), were killed and nine others wounded in a road accident in Pultadanga area on Jessore-Chaugachha road yesterday. The deceased were Abu Hanif, a third year student of the physical education department of the university; and Anisur Rahman, 22; Khadiza Begum, 45, wife of Habibur Rahman of Chanda-Afra village in Chougachha; and Khairul Islam, 36, the human hauler driver. Hanif, Anis and Khadiza died instantly and Khairul succumbed to his injuries at Jessore Medical College Hospital, said police.

The accident took place around 11:30 am when a goods-laden truck from Churamankathi collided head-on with a Jessore-bound human hauler, locally called “Nosiman” from Salua Bazar with 13 passengers leaving three persons dead on the spot and 10 others injured. The wounded were sent to Jessore Medical College and Hospital.

Outraged by the incident, the agitated students of JUST put up blockade on Jessore-Chougaccha road for around six hours, disrupting traffic movement in the area. They also set fire to a truck on the road. On information, police rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control. But the driver of the vehicle managed to flee the scene immediately after the incident.
