‘Robber’ killed in Sundarbans ‘gunfight’
31 January 2015, Nirapad News: A suspected top leader of a robber gang was killed during a ‘gunfight’ with the members of elite force at Bagerhat of Sundarbans on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Moshiur, 35, a second-in-charge of infamous Majnu Bahini.
RAB-8 commanding officer Lt Col Faridul Alam said, on secret information, a team of RAB conducted a drive at the forest’s Chandpai Range around 8:30am.
Sensing their presence, robber gang opened fire to the team, forcing them to fire back that triggered a gunfight.
After half an hour of gunfight, Mashiur’s body was found lying on the spot.
Eleven local and foreign firearms including 450 rounds of ammunition and explosives were recovered from the spot.
