RSML taking preparations for starting sugarcane crushing

10 December 2015, Nirapad News: Rangpur Sugar Mills Limited (RSML), located at Mohimaganj area under Gobindaganj upazila in the district, is taking preparations for starting sugarcane crushing during the current season.

Office sources said about 5,000 farmers of the sub-zone areas of the mill cultivated sugarcane on 3,882 acres of land in 2014-2015 plantation season and they are expecting bumper production of yield.

About 77,640 tonnes of yields might be produced and it would have possibility to produce 3,900 tonnes of sugar crushing 60,000 tonnes of sugarcane during the 2015-2016 sugarcane crushing season, sources said.

Over TK 22 lakh were also disbursed to the growers as government subsidy to encourage them to cultivate sugarcane on their respective land at mill zone area without economical troubles and also help them earn economical profit from the farming, said an official of the mills.

As the plants of the sugarcane have grown well on the land, a bumper production of sugarcane planted in 2014-15 season is expected at eight sub zones of Rangpur Sugar Mills Limited (RSML).

Zinnat Ali Prodhan, president of sugarcane growers’ association of the mill, said favorable climatic condition, timely supply of high quality seed, fertilizers, insecticides and other agri inputs and proper disbursement of subsidy and agri- loan to the growers are the main reasons behind the expectation of bumper production.

The officials and the staff of the mills have so much active and are passing their busy times to start the mills immediately so that it could run at least 45 days at a stretch aimed at producing 3,900 tonnes of sugar targeted by the authority.

Managing Director of the RSML Abdul Khaleque said they had completed all the preparations to start the sugar production on December 20.
