Samia Zaman elected as a jury of international oriental film festival
21 March 2015, Nirapad News: Film director and producer, noted media personality, Samia Zaman has been invited to be a jury of the short films category at the International Oriental Film Festival of Geneva (FIFOG).
She will be leading the short film jury board of this reputable film festival, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.
Organised in collaboration with national and international partners, FIFOG works for cultural diversity and promotes the integration of foreign films in Switzerland.
Through the films of young directors, round tables, meetings, discussions, animations, an art exhibition and debates, the festival wants to facilitate a dialogue between East and West and diminish preconceived ideas.
One hundred movies, short films and documentaries from Algeria, Belgium, Egypt, the United States, Jordan, Iran, Lebanon, France, Morocco, Palestine, Tunisia, Turkey, Switzerland and Syria will be screened at the festival, which kicked off yesterday and will continue till March 29.
Samia Zaman’s second feature film Aakash Koto Dure (The Distant Sky) was screened at the FIFOG last year. Her directorial debut ‘Rani Kuthir Baki Itihash’ was released in 2006 to popular and critical acclaim.
