SBMJ completes Independence Day celebrations in Rangpur
27 March 2016, Nirapad News: The ‘Swasswato Bangla Muktijuddha Jadughar (SBMJ)’ completed week-long celebrations of the Great Independence and National Day-2016 through special programmes on Saturday night.
Like in the previous years, the SBMJ authority observed the Day since last Sunday at the ‘Mukta Mancha’ set up on its premises under management of Area Headquarters of Rangpur Cantonment.
The special concluding programmes began with rendering of National Anthem by members of the Great Independence and National Day-2016 Observance Committee in presence of thousands of people from all walks of life in the society.
Later, Convener of the Observance Committee and Principal of Rangpur Cantonment Public School & College Colonel Md Nurul Huda, psc, delivered welcome speech.
Valiant freedom fighter Group Captain (Retd) Abu Jafar Chowdhury, GD (P), PSC, and valiant freedom fighter Major (Retd) ATM Hamidul Hossain, Bir Bikram, PSC, attended the concluding programmes as the chief and honourable guests respectively.
Speeches delivered by Group Captain (Retd) Abu Jafar Chowdhury and Major (Retd) ATM Hamidul Hossain on the War of Liberation took the huge audience to the period of the War of Liberation making them emotional and inspiring them with patriotic feeling amid pin drop silence.
Adviser of the Observance Committee and Station Commander of 72 Infantry Brigade of Rangpur Cantonment Brigadier General AKM Shamsuddin, AWC, PSC, Brigade Commander of 72 Infantry Brigade Brigadier General Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah, HDMC, PSC, Colonel EM Azizul Kahhar, PSC, G Colonel Admin of Rangpur Area and Principal of the Millennium Stars School & College Lieutenant Colonel Syed Nazmur Rahman were present.
Six valiant freedom fighters were honoured with floral wreaths and memorial crests in the ceremony.
The chief guest, honourable guests and high military officials jointly unveiled cover of a book ‘Birjoddhha Uttaranchal’ published by Area Headquarters of Rangpur Cantonment of Bangladesh Army to immortalise glorious history of War of Liberation and many important battles those were fought bravely by freedom fighters in the northern region.
The book ‘Birjoddhha Uttaranchal’ has been published in eight volumes highlighting the history of the wars fought by freedom fighters during the War of Liberation in Rangpur, Nilphamari, Gaibandha, Kurigram, Lalmonirhat, Thakurgaon, Panchagarh and Dinajpur districts in the northern region.
Artistes of ‘Rinijhini Nrittya Academy’ rendered colourful dance programme in the ceremony in line with the theme of ‘Ma-Mati-Maunsh’ for observance of the Day this year.
Noted singer Ziaul Haque Lipu rendered patriotic songs while Kajol Chandra Roy recited poems in the function.
Chief Patron for the week-long celebrations of the Great Independence and National Day- 2016 programmes, Rangpur Area Commander and GOC of 66 Infantry Division Major General Md Masud Razzaque, NDC, AFWC, PSC, delivered the concluding speech.
With deep respect, the GOC recalled memory of the best sons and daughters of the soil for taking part in the War of Liberation and achieving the ultimate Victory by defeating the occupation Pakistani forces in 1971.
He thanked and expressed deep gratitude to all participating in socio-cultural and literary organisations and members of the Observance Committee for making the week-long celebrations of the Great Independence and National Day-2016 programmes successful.
He also expressed firm desire for continuing to arrange similar exclusive programmes in future.
