SC upholds MP Bodi’s bail in graft case

20 November 2016, Nirapad News: The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court today upheld bail of Abdur Rahman Bodi, lawmaker of Cox’s Bazar-4 constituency, in a graft case.

“No order,” said Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain of the Appellate Division Chamber Judge court upholding the High Court order that granted Bodi’s bail.

Earlier on November 16, the High Court granted six-month bail to the lawmaker in the case lodged by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Bodi is now in jail after getting convicted for submitted a wrong wealth statement to the ACC, concealing the real price of his properties.

Dhaka Third Special Judge Abu Ahammed Jamadar on November 2 sentenced Bodi to three years imprisonment and fined him Taka one million in the case.

ACC deputy director Abdus Sobhan filed the case against Bodi on August 21, 2014, while investigation officer and ACC deputy director Manjil Morshed filed chargesheet against the lawmaker on May 7, 2015.
