SC upholds order cancelling Kader Siddique’s candidacy in by-polls
18 January 2017, Nirapad News: The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) today dismissed an appeal of Abdul Kader Siddique against the High Court order that upheld Election Commission (EC) decision cancelling his nomination in Tangail-4 by-polls.
The apex court full bench headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order this noon.
“After today’s order, there is no scope for Siddique to contest in the Tangail-4 by-polls,” said EC’s counsel Barrister Dr Muhammad Yasin Khan.
Earlier on February 4, 2016, the High Court had passed the order upholding the decision of the EC, cancelling the nomination paper of Krishak Sramik Janata League president for Tangail-4 by-election illegal for loan default.
