Security boosts ahead of UP polls
20 March 2016, Nirapad News: Forces ramped up security with deployment of 1.80 lakh law enforcers ahead of the first phase of polls to 722 Union Parishad (UP) set for March 22 to maintain law and order to ensure peaceful atmosphere for voters to franchise their voting rights in free, fair and neutral manner.
“As many as 1.8 lakh law enforcers have been deployed to ensure peaceful UP elections,” Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque told a press briefing at police headquarters today.
Alongside with police, members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), police and Ansar stepped up their presence in the electoral areas to make the security foolproof.
The police boss requested the candidates and their supporters to obey the law to help law enforcers to maintain law and order.
“Police will give all sorts of assistances to ensure the UP polls in a free, fair and neutral manner,” he said adding that police will act neutrally.
