Sedition case filed against Khoka and Manna
6 March 2015, Nirapad News: A sedition case was filed against Nagorik Oikya convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna and BNP vice-chairman Sadeque Hossain Khoka on Thursday in connection with the recently leaked ‘telephonic conversation’ between the two leaders.
Inspector (investigation) Gulshan Police Station Firoz Kabir told the press that sub-inspector Sohel Rana filed the case. Earlier on February 24, plain-clothes police picked Manna up from a house at Banani.
On February 25, Rapid Acton Battalion (Rab) confirmed the arrest of Manna and handed him over to Gulshan Police Station. Later on the day, a Dhaka court granted a 10-day police remand for the Nagorik Oikya convener in a case filed by SI Sohel Rana against him under section 131 of the Penal Code.
Two audio clips of the conversations purportedly between Manna and BNP leader Sadeque Hossain Khoka were leaked on February 22. In the conversations, Manna reportedly provoked the BNP leader to unleash a bloody clash on the Dhaka University campus.
