Nirapad News : MP’s wife and selfie-loving Labour councillor Karen Danczuk has revealed that she was raped from the age of six by a family friend.

The wife of campaigning Labour MP Simon Danczuk, whose investigations prompted the inquiry into allegations of historic child abuse at Westminster, found the strength to tell her story after years of therapy.

“I was raped and abused by a paedophile for years and years,” she said.

Known for posting busty selfies on social media, Karen has previously been attacked for being a bad role model for girls in Rochdale, where she lives.

Earlier this year, she explained: “They have no idea what my past is, and what the girls went through. They have no idea.

“I don’t mind someone having a go at me, but don’t blame child sex abuse on me because I happen to occasionally wear a low-cut top.”

Karen, who grew up in the small town of Middleton a few miles from Rochdale, told how the man who abused her “was just someone who would be around a lot”.

She was abused weekly until she hit puberty at 11.

She said: “I was scared of him, it was easier to do what he said. I had no option. Who could I tell? After a few months it became full-blown rape and that went on for years.”

Karen suffered nightmares, self-harmed, attempted suicide and took antidepressants for 20 years until she fell in love with husband Simon in 2007.

She described how the maverick MP wanted “to break that man’s legs” when she first told him about the abuse – but then supported her through therapy until she was finally confident in her own body.

Cllr Danczuk was involved in a row with Harriet Harman recently, after tweeting a claim that the Labour deputy leader had told her she was “too pretty for politics” – and that she should join Girls Aloud instead.

Harriet Harman denies the claim, but Cllr Danczuk yesterday insisted the conversation took place in the way that she said.

Mrs Danczuk is standing down as a councillor in May, to spend more time with her children and pursue her business and media career.

She was elected to the Kingsway ward on Rochdale council in 2011 with a majority of 1,458.
