Selim warns Khaleda, Tarique of severe consequence of “misdeeds”
11 November 2015, Nirapad News: Awami League lawmaker presidium member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim MP today warned BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and her fugitive son Tarique Rahman of severe consequences of their “misdeeds”, accusing them of masterminding fresh clandestine attacks to destabilise the government.
“Khaleda Zia and her son Tarique Zia have committed many misdeeds . . . they will have to face punishments,” he told the triennial joint council of Gopalganj Sadar Upazila Awami League (AL) and City unit of the party, joining the function as the chief guest at Sheikh Fazlul Huq Moni auditorium.
He described Begum Zia as “the leader of all the evil forces and militant outfits” saying her party earlier carried out a systematic arson attack killing scores of people in enforcing a countrywide blockade and now they resorted to the path of fresh clandestine attacks and the two foreigners were murdered recently at their directives.
But, Selim said, the clandestine attacks in an effort to create anarchy in the country to topple the government would be proved futile and rather this would earn the plotters intensified public wraths.
The senior ruling party leader also speculated that Begum Zia was likely to stay back in London along with Tarique as she went there citing medical grounds.
Gopalganj Sadar Upazila AL president Sheikh M Yusuf Ali chaired the council, while its inaugural session was addressed, among others, by the party’s central religious affairs secretary Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, labour affairs secretary Habibur Rahman Siraj, District AL general secretary Chowdhury Emdadul Haque, Umme Razia Kajol, MP, central Awami Swechchasebak League president Advocate Mollad Md Abu Kowser and local AL leaders Kazi Liaquat Ali, Hasmat Ali Shikdar Chunnu, BM Hasan Kabir Chhanu and SM Nazrul Islam.
The council elected Kazi Liaquat Ali Liku and Rafiqul Islam Mithu as the president and general secretary of Gopalganj Sadar Upazila AL and Hasmat Ali Shikdar Chunnu and SM Nazrul Islam as the president and general secretary of City unit of the party.
