Sensex erases initial gains

11 March 2015, Nirapad News: The Sensex and the Nifty erased their initial gains and were trading near flat owing to lack of directional cues from the global market. At 11.20 am, the 30-share BSE index Sensex was trading down by 13.37 points or 0.05 per cent at 28,696.50 and the 50-share NSE index Nifty was trading up by 0.25 point or 0.00 per cent at 8,712.30.
Among BSE sectoral indices, metal index fell the most by 1.39 per cent, followed by realty 1.29 per cent, healthcare 0.94 per cent and PSU 0.64 per cent.
On the other hand, IT index was up 0.89 per cent, followed by TECk 0.76 per cent, FMCG 0.37 per cent and power 0.02 per cent. Top five Sensex gainers were HUL 1.39 per cent, Infosys 1.27 per cent, NTPC 1.23 per cent, M&M 0.86 per cent and HDFC 0.85 per cent, while the major losers were Hindalco 3.66 per cent, Cipla 1.82 per cent, SSLT 1.82 per cent, Tata Motors 1.67 per cent and ONGC 1.27 per cent.
Both the Nifty and the Sensex opened marginally in the green after two days of closing in the red. The Nifty opened 17 points up at 8,729, while the Sensex opened 16 points up at 28,726, according to a news agency.
