Seven killed as truck falls into ditch
12 October 2015, Nirapad News: Seven people were killed and four others injured after a rice-laden truck plunged into roadside ditch in Jorarganj area under Mirsari upazila of Chittagong early Monday.
The accident took place near to factory of Omera Petroleum Ltd at Sonapahar around 5:30am.
The deceased were identified as Kalam Mia, 45, Saidur, 40, Rubel, 25, Tipu, 45, Maniruddin, 45, Alam 30, Azad, 25. All but one hailed from Naogaon district. Another hailed from Bogra.
Highway police Jorarganj camp in-charge Farid Uddin told that a Chittagong-bound rice-laden truck from Naogaon fell into ditch as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving seven onboard the truck dead on the spot.
However, the truck river escaped the accident and fled the spot, he also said. The bodies have been kept at Jorarganj camp. Relatives of the deceased appealed to the additional district magistrate requesting not to conduct autopsy.
After getting permission, the bodies will be handed over to family members, he added.
