Seven lakhs pieces of yaba tablets seized in Ctg, 2 held
15 October 2015, Nirapad News: Narcotics control department officials held two and seized around seven lakhs pieces of yaba tablets from the bank of river Karnaphuli in Chittagong port outer-anchorage in Chittagong district on Wednesday morning.
Narcotics control department Chittagong Metropolitan sub-zonal inspector Tapan Kanti Sharma told that the haul of 680,000 tablets were collected from Myanmar and brought to Chittagong from Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar through river route.
The anti-narcotics officials seized the haul before unloading on the bank of river Karnaphuli near outer-anchorage of the port area.
The officials also nabbed five and after primary investigation, three got released as they were found no guilty.
The two detainees were identified as the boatman Faridul Alam (40) and his assistant Abul Kalam (35).
The main culprit behind the haul will be identified after investigation, Sharma added.
