Shafik Rehman named 3 accomplices in ploy to abduct PM’s son, police claim
24 April 2016, Nirapad News: Police claim that journalist Shafik Rehman named ‘at least more three persons’ involved in the plot to abduct prime minister’s son Sajeeb Ahmed Wazed Joy.
“They will be taken into custody as soon as the information is verified,” Additional Police Commissioner Monirul Islam told reporters on Sunday.
He said that all of them were Bangladeshis, but did not disclose identities. “They are involved in politics. Some of them live abroad and some in Bangladesh.”
Police is quizzing Rehman after it secured a fresh five-day remand to interrogate him on Friday.
After the first round of custody, police claimed that they found confidential FBI documents after searching the journalist’s house.
“We earlier knew that a small amount of money changed hands (for obtaining the documents). Shafik Rehman said $30,000 had been used for the information,” said Islam.
