Shamsher Mobin and Dudu placed on fresh remands
10 February 2015, Nirapad News: A Dhaka court yesterday placed BNP Vice-Chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury on a fresh four-day remand in a case filed with the Chawkbazar police station in Dhaka over the Bakshibazar clash on December 24.
Metropolitan Magistrate Md Jahangir Hossain passed the order when Chawkbazar police station OC Md Ilyias produced them before the court seeking another seven days’ remand.
Meanwhile, Metropolitan Magistrate Hasibul Haque granted four days’ fresh remand to Shamsuzzaman Dudu, adviser to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, when Rupnagar police produced him before the court seeking a 10-day remand in an arson case filed on November 2 last year.
Lawyers of the two BNP leaders filed bail petitions with remand rejection prayers before the courts but the prayers were rejected.
On December 24, over 50 people were injured in the Bakshibazar clash that began just before BNP Chief Khaleda Zia appeared before a makeshift court in the area in two graft cases.
Following the skirmishes, Chawkbazzer police SI Delwar Hossain filed a case against 76 activists of BNP, its youth front Juba Dal and and student wing Chhatra Dal.
Detectives picked up Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury from a house in the capital’s Banani Old DOHS on January 9; Dudu was detained from Mirpur on January 11.
