Sheikh Hasina says Jail is a suitable place for Khaleda Zia
14 March 2015, Nirapad News: Calling upon Khaleda Zia to surrender before court, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said jail is a suitable place for the BNP chief.
The premier made the statement while addressing a program of Peshajibi Somonnoy Parishad, a platform of employees and professionals, at Krishibid Institute in the capital on Saturday afternoon.
Mentioning that Khaleda Zia is an absconding accused, she said: “If Khaleda Zia does not surrender before the court, we will be compelled to execute the court’s order.” Hasina said Khaleda’s movement had failed as people were not with her.
“We were able to oust her [Khaleda] government in 1996 through movement as people were with us.”
She said: “Khaleda Zia did not even get the support from the West [western countries] and the North [cantonment]. That’s why she is burning people from her rage. “We will not hold dialogue with those who burn people to death.”
Mentioning that Khaleda has attitude problem, Sheikh Hasina said: “I had gone to condole her when her son died, but she did not allow me to enter her office. Being a prime minister, I could take any step against her, but I did not do that. If a dog bite a human, the human should not bite the dog back.”
A Dhaka court on February 25 issued an arrest warrant against Khaleda in two graft cases.
Khaleda last attended trial proceedings on December 24, the day clashes broke out between police, supporters of the BNP and supporters of the ruling Awami League in the Bakshibazar area of the capital.
