Shimulia-Kawrakandi ferry service resumes after 3 hrs
08 December 2015, Nirapad News: Ferry on the Shimulia-Kawrakandi route resumed on Tuesday morning after three hours of its disruption due to dense fog.
Giasuddin Patwari, manager of BIWTC, Shimulia ferry ghat, said they kept suspended ferry service and plying of water vessels from 5am to 8am due to blurred visibility for dense fog.
Eight ferries including Bir Shrestha Jahangir, Bir Shrestha Ruhul Amin, Amanat Shah, Ranikhet, Lenting, Taply, Ramsree and Camilia with a large number of vehicles and passengers lay anchored in the middle of the Padma River, causing immense suffering to the passengers.
About 150 vehicles were kept waiting on both sides of the river for crossing.
However, ferry service resumed around 8:00 am as fog disappeared after the sunrise.
