North Bengal-bound truck coming from opposite knocked down the bus

Nirapad News : Three people including a police constable were killed and three others injured in a three-vehicle pile-up in Sirajganj Sadar upazila this morning.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Based, a police constable of Bangabandhu Bridge (West) Police Station; and Mofizur Rahman and Zahid Hasan, driver and helper of a police van; reports our Pabna correspondent.

A North Bengal-bound bus of Khalek Paribahan broke down near Kodda roundabout on Dhaka-Sirajganj highway at the west approach road of Bangabandhu Bridge in the early hours of today, said ATM Aminul Islam, officer-in-charge of the police station.

A patrol team of police rushed to the spot and parked their van in front of the bus for ensuring security of its passengers.

All of a sudden, another North Bengal-bound truck coming from opposite knocked down the bus, which dashed the stationed police van leaving van driver Mofizur dead on the spot, the OC said.

Two others succumbed at Sirajganj General Hospital. The injured were also whisked off to the same hospital.
