18 February 2015, Nirapad News: Convicting detained Jamaat-e-Islami senior most leader Maulana Abdus Sobhan for crimes against humanity, including genocide, during the 1971 Liberation War, the International Crimes Tribunal-2 on Wednesday unanimously sentenced him to death.

With the 85-year-old accused in the dock, Justice Obaidul Hassan, chairman of the three-member tribunal, flanked by its two other members Justice M Mozibur Rahman Miah and Justice M Shahinur Islam pronounced a 165-page verdict at 11:52am in a crowded courtroom after 75 days of closure of the trial.

Earlier, before the judgment, police in compliance with the tribunal order produced the accused in the tribunal lockup at 08:53 am amid tight security in and around the tribunal at the century-old High Court building.
