South Africa beats Ireland by a massive 201 runs
Nirapad News : After amassing 411 runs in its innings, South Africa was never threatened by Ireland’s batting lineup and secured a huge win for the second World Cup match in a row.
South Africa’s batsmen smashed boundaries almost at will as Hashim Amla (159) and Faf du Plessis (109) notched tons, before Ireland eked out a score of 210 all out from 45 overs.
Ireland deserves credit for passing 200 after falling to 5 for 48 after 10.2 overs.
Dale Steyn (2 for 39) and Kyle Abbott (4 for 21) ripped through Ireland’s top order to snuff out any hopes of a big score in response to South Africa’s total, which was the second-highest in World Cups.
A 81-run fifth-wicket partnership between Andrew Balbirnie (58 off 71) and Kevin O’Brien (48 off 65) and some lower-order resistance saved the Irish from an even heavier defeat, but the result of the match was never in doubt.
