Speaker for more involvement of parliamentarians in development work
28 November 2015, Nirapad News: Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) and Executive Chairperson of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury yesterday urged the parliament members of CPA member countries to increase their involvement in development works of their own states to accelerate progress.
She was speaking at a meeting at CPA headquarters at London, said a press release.
Urging the country representatives under commonwealth for proper participation in CPA activities she said, “The CPA activities should be more dynamic to strengthen the democracy of the countries”.
The meeting also discussed the issues on establishment of political values, removal of poverty, establishment of people’s fundamental rights, world’s financial development, gender equality, among other subjects.
CPA acting secretary general and finance administration director Joe Omorodion, program director Meenakshi Dhar were present among others.
