Stocks end flat amid cautious trading
18 February 2015, Nirapad News: Stocks ended flat Wednesday with turnover remaining sluggish as most of the investors followed cautious trading amid ongoing political turmoil in the country. DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) ended at 4,802.27 points, gaining 1.86 points or 0.03 per cent.
However, the two other indices closed in red. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips lost 0.54 points or 0.03 per cent to close at 1,786.17 points. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) shed 2.81 points or 0.24 per cent to close at 1,133.70 points. Turnover on DSE stood at Tk 2.59 billion, registering an increase of 4.43 per cent over the over the previous session’s value of Tk 2.48 billion. The losers took a modest lead over the gainers as out of 310 issues traded, 144 declined, 135 advanced and 31 remained unchanged on the DSE floor.
Shahzibazar Power Company was the most traded stock with shares worth Tk 143.23 million changing hands followed by City Bank, IFAD Autos, Lafarge Surma Cement and MJL BD. The port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), however, ended in positive with its Selective Categories Index – CSCX – gained 24.10 points to close at 8,929.95 points. Losers beat gainers 107 to 91, with 23 issues remaining unchanged at the port city bourse that traded 7.22 million shares and mutual fund units, turnover value of Tk 214.98 million.
