Stolen medicines seized in Rajshahi
19 March 2016, Nirapad News: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-5), Rajshahi seized huge quantity of stolen government medicines and arrested one smuggler from Bidirpur more area under Godagari upazila of the district early this morning.
The arrestee was identified as Rasiqul Islam, 29, son of Sakim Uddin of Pirijpur village under the same upazila.
According to RAB-5, acting on a tip-off RAB members came to know that some ‘culprits’ of Godagari area storage a huge quanity of stolen government medicines for smuggling and selling those in the local market.
Based on the information, an operation team of RAB-5, Rajshahi led by Squadron Leader KBM Mobassher Rahim, conducted an operation at Bidirpur more area around 4-30am and arrested Rasiqul. They recovered huge number of bottles of Amoxicillin Moxilin 5ml Powder for Suspension from his possession.
Lieutenant Colonel Mahabub, CO of RAB-5, Rajshahi informed that after primary questioning Rasiqul acknowledged his involvement with the crime. On the basis of his information, the CO further said that a gang has been stealing government medicines for a long time.
Earlier on March 9, RAB personnel seized medicines of government hospital worth around Tk two lakh and arrested a village doctor in the same area.
“We are investigating into the matter intensively to bring all the syndicate members to book,” said Lt Col Mahabub.
