Students’ Council Election held in 212 schools in Gaibandha
25 February 2015, Nirapad News: Students’ council election was held at 212 primary schools of Sadar upazila of the district on Tuesday amid much enthusiasm.
The objective of the council election is to help students flourish their leadership talents from childhood.
District primary education officer AKM Amirul Islam said the students’ council works as the voice of the students and it is formed through an electoral process to make them aware about their responsibility.
Students from class 3 to class 5 exercised their right to franchise to elect seven representatives at the beginning of each year to speak about their benefits at students’ council meetings, he also said.
On the election day, a team of journalists visited the Gobindapur (Palash) Government Primary School of the town here and watched the overall election process.
Earlier, the election commissioner, the presiding officer and the polling officers were also made from among the students to conduct the election peacefully, said Farzana Ashrafi Chowdhury, headmistress of the school.
