Tavella killing a political one to embarrass the govt: Hanif
02 October 2015, Nirapad News: Acting general secretary of the ruling Awami League Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif today termed the recent killing of Cesare Tavella, an Italian citizen, as a planned political murder aimed at putting the government in an awkward situation.
“It is learnt that the slain Italian citizen has no personal and family enmity with anybody. The nature of his killing hinted that it was not a mugging incident. Cesare Tavella might be a victim of political killing because it (murder) might have been committed to malign and embarrass Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at a time when she was receiving United Nations awards and the world leaders were applauding her,” he said.
Hanif said this while speaking as the chief guest at a joint meeting of Dhaka South and North units of Jatiya Sramik League at Awami League central office at Bangabandhu Avenue in the city.
The joint meeting was convened with a view to making the mass reception to be accorded to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on her return home at 1.30 pm on October 3 (Saturday).
Dhaka City South unit president of Jatiya Sramik League Md Shamsul Alam Bakul presided over the meeting, also addressed, among others, by Awami League labour affairs secretary Habibur Rahman Siraj, Jatiya Sramik League executive president Fazlul Haque Montu and general secretary Sirajul Islam.
Hanif said that the two prestigious awards of the United Nations bore the testimony to the facts that the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been ensuring the country’s development and progress.
The Awami League leader hoped that the mystery behind the killing of the Italian citizen would soon be unearthed and his killers nabbed and handed down with exemplary punishment who tried to put Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in an embarrassing position through the killing.
