There is no IS in Bangladesh: Home Minister

14 March 2016, Nirapad News: Home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today said there is no terrorist groups like Islamic State (IS) in Bangladesh, but several home grown terrorist groups in the name of Islam are engaged in creating violence across the country.

“No IS exists in Bangladesh, but a few homegrown outfits in the name of Islam are conducting terrorist activities and involved in various crimes,” he said.

He was speaking as the chief guest at Galimpur and Baruakhali police investigation centers inauguration programme at Agla union Parishad premises under Nawadganj upazila, said a press release.

Dhaka District Police organised the programme while its police super Habibur Rahman in the chair.

Referring to the government’s strict measures undertaken against terrorism, the minister said, Police is round-the-clock active with all legal steps against the identified terrorists, illegal arms, drugs and explosives.
