Three reasons- Sheikh Hasina to win 2019 general elections: Nasim

17 March 2016, Nirapad News: Three reasons that would bring Sheikh Hasina to power again in 2019 general elections, Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim hoped today, pointing to Padma Bridge construction, smooth electricity supply and easy health service at peoples doorsteps as major scorers.

‘People to vote Awami League to power again in 2019 for three reasons- Padma Bridge construction, smooth electricity supply and appropriate health service at peoples doorsteps,” Nasim said as the chief guest at a function, organised to mark the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s 96th birth anniversary, which is also observed as the National Children’s Day.

Mohammad Nasim, also a ruling Awami League top brass, said the present government has attached highest priority to national development in all fronts, including health and infrastructure, and has brought tangible results over years.

He, however, said the success in child nutrition has been mired by fast food explosion and reduction in breastfeeding recently.

“It is unfortunate that the rate of breastfeeding has come down. Soon, we would reactivate the National Nutrition Council,” said the minister, who took tough stand against dodgy doctors to ensure better health in public hospitals, especially in rural areas.

The minister urged parents to discourage children from junk food consumptions and encourage them to eat local food, fruits and vegetables that contain high food value and micronutrients. The parents should also give time to family and to their growing adults so that vices and drug addiction could not touch them.

Among others, Health Secretary Syed Manzurul Islam, Directors General of the Directorate General of Health Services Professor Dr Deen Mohammad Nurul Haque and Director of Sohrawardy Medical College and Hospital Dr Uttam Kumar Barua spoke on the occasion.

Later, the health minister attended a child art competition at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) premises and distributed awards among the winners.
