Three remanded over blogger Ananta murder
10 November 2015, Nirapad News: A court on Tuesday placed three people arrested in connection with the blogger Ananta Bijoy Das murder to a seven-day remand.
Those who were remanded are Shafiur Rahman Farabi, Julhas Bishwas and Abul Bashar.
Judge of Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate Court-2 Anwarul Haque passed the order after Inspector of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police Arman Ali produced them before the court seeking 15 days’ remand for each of them.
On March 2, a Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) team arrested Farabi from Jatrabari bus stand in the capital while Julhas Bishwas and Abul Bashar were arrested from Fakirerpool area of the capital on September 10 for their alleged involvement in the blogger Avijit Roy killing.
They were taken to Sylhet in last month (October) and produced before the court today (Tuesday) showing them arrested in the blogger Ananta Bijoy Das murder case.
Blogger Ananta, also an activist of Sylhet Ganajagaran Manch, was hacked to death by a group of assailants in broad daylight at Subidbazar Bankalapara in the city on May 12.
On May 13, Rateshwar Das, elder brother of Ananta Bijoy, filed a case against four people with the Airport Police Station.
Ananta Bijoy was also a writer in the ‘Mukto-Mona blog’, founded by blogger Avijit Roy – who had been murdered two and a half months ago after he came home from the USA.
