Thursday’s SSC exams postponed due to blockade
11 February 2015, Nirapad News : “We are postponing Thursday’s exams. We are not announcing a new date for it now,” Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid told a media briefing on Wednesday.
The government has postponed the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations, which were scheduled to be held on Thursday, as the BNP-led 20-party alliance extended its nationwide general strike till Friday.
Nahid’s Personal Officer Sultan Ahmed told, “The examinations for Thursday have been postponed. But, no date has been fixed for holding the exams. A notice will be issued regarding the new schedule of the exams, considering the situation.” Earlier, the minister requested the BNP-led alliance to postpone Thursday’s hartal.
“If the postponement causes big problem for you, [20-party alliance], at least keep the SSC exam hours including each two hours before and after the exam, out of hartal purview,” he said.
The BNP-led 20-party alliance has extended its ongoing 72-hour nationwide hartal till 6 am Friday. The 20-party alliance has been enforcing a 72-hour hartal from 6 am Sunday, despite nationwide SSC examinations in which about 1.5 million students are taking part.
Four papers of SSC and equivalent examinations were rescheduled due to several hartals enforced by the BNP-led alliance.
Sunday’s English paper I exam was shifted to Friday and Tuesday’s English paper II exam was rescheduled to Saturday.
The SSC examination was scheduled to begin on February 2 with the Bangla paper I. But the exam was shifted to February 6 because of 20-party alliance’s 72-hour hartal. Later, the Bangla paper II exam which was scheduled for February 4, was shifted to February 7 as the opposition alliance extended its shutdown till 6 am on February 6.
