Tk. 9.70 lakhs scholarship money distributed in Panchagarh
28 November 2015, Nirapad News: The district administration distributed Taka 9.70 lakhs as scholarship money among 328 poor and meritorious students of Panchagarh district under the Panchagarh Education Welfare Trust today (Friday).
Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam distributed the scholarship money at a ceremony at Panchagarh government auditorium in the district town as the chief guest.
Member of the Planning Commission Humayun Khalid, Divisional Commissioner Muhammad Dilwar Bakht and Panchagarh Police Super Md Gias Uddin addressed the ceremony.
Presided over by Deputy Commissioner of Panchagarh Mohammad Salahuddin, scholarship recipient Afsana Akhter also spoke.
In his welcome speech, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) of Panchagarh Mahbubul Alam said the then Deputy Commissioner of Panchagarh Md Rabiul Islam formed the trust in 1999.
“The trust has now a fund of Taka 1.12 crore and Taka 9.71 lakh was distributed among 481 poor and meritorious students of the district last year and Taka 9.70 lakh among 328 students from the fund this year,” he said.
Like in the last year, each of the poor and meritorious students of class eight, nine and ten, higher secondary level and higher level received Taka 2,000, Taka 2,500, Taka 3,000 and Taka 5,000 respectively at a time under the trust fund this year.
