16 March 2016, Nirapad News: The main draw of T20 cricket’s most spectacular and biennial extravaganza in the shape of ICC World T20 2016 is all set to roll onto the ground from today (Tuesday, March 15) when the hosts and heavyweights India take on the heartthrobs New Zealand in Nagpur at 8.00pm in the evening.
So far in this year, Sabbir Rahman is the highest run-scorer in the shortest format of the game. From 12 matches, he has so far scored 388 runs at an average of 43.11, with the help of two fifty-plus scores. He has smashed 35 fours and 12 sixes.
Sabbir is shortly followed by Zimbabwe’s Hamilton Masakadza and India’s Virat Kohli. In 9 matches, Masakadza has scored 361 runs at 45.12. However he will miss out on extending the tally any time, as his team has been knocked out of the World T20. On the other hand, Virat Kohli has scored 352 runs at a whopping average of 117.33.
Tamim Iqbal is Bangladesh’s second highest run-scorer. He has so far scored 306 runs at 51 in 8 matches, with an impressive strike rate of 145.2. The next three from Bangladesh are: Soumya Sarkar (227 runs in 12 matches), Mahmudullah Riyad (199 runs in 12 matches) Shakib Al Hasan (153 runs in 12 matches).
