Total 64 deaths during current violent blockades; 9 dies 30 more injured in recent attack
07 February 2015, Nirapad News: At least nine people, including two children, were burnt alive in Bangladesh when opposition activists hurled petrol bombs at a packed bus and a truck in the latest spasm of worsening political violence, police said on Saturday.
Six people were killed and 25 others have burn injuries when pro-blockade activists set alight a passenger bus in Tulshighat area in Gaibanda district. Police said the miscreants torched the Dhaka-bound bus of Napu Paribahan at 11.35 pm near Tulshighat area.
“Four were killed on the spot in the arson attack,” a police official confirmed.
Of the injured, five people were sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
The bodies were sent to Gaibandha Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
In another arson attack in Barisal three people were burnt to death after a truck was attacked with petrol bombs around 5:30 am at the district’s Gouranadi Upazila early on Saturday amid the BNP-sponsored transport blockade.
With yesterday’s incidents, the death toll has risen to 64 in the ongoing blockade violence. Of the dead, 40 were victims of mindless arson attacks.
