Train derails after sabotage in Moulvibazar: 100 injured
Nirapad News : At least 100 people were injured, most of them critically, as an inter-city train derailed after blockaders removed fishplates from rail line at Kulaura Upazila in Moulvibazar district early Thursday. Police and local people rescued the injured and whisked them to Kulaura Health Complex and Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital. The accident snapped rail communications in Dhaka-Sylhet and Sylhet-Chittagong rail route. Moulvibazar railway station master said supporters of blockade pulled out the fishplates on several spots of the railway tracks in Kulaura Upazila early in the wee hours. Inter-city ‘Udayan Express’ train which was passing the area derailed there early in the morning, he said. At least 100 passengers were injured in the accident. When contacted, Kulaura Station Master Mohammad Shamshul Alam said the engine of the express train and its five compartments derailed. Sylhet’s train communications with capital Dhaka and Chittagong came to halt following the derailment, he added, according to a news agency.
