Transport strike in Panchagarh enters 2nd day
07 December 2015,Nirapad News: The indefinite transport strike in the district that is being enforced by transport owners and workers demanding a ban on the movement of human haulers on the highways, entered the 2nd day on Monday
Motorised vehicles, including coaches, buses and trucks, stayed off the roads today as on Sunday, causing immense sufferings to the passengers.
Additional police forces were deployed at important points to fend off any trouble.
Transport owners and workers went on an indefinite strike in the district on Sunday demanding the ban on plying of human haulers on the highways.
Apel Mahmud, general secretary of Panchagarh Transport Owners Association, said they called the nonstop strike as the local administration failed to stop movement of human haulers like Nasimon, Karimon and battery-driven Easy-bike on the busy roads and highways.
District Motor Owners’ Union and three transport workers’ associations jointly announced the program.
