Two expats’ houses looted in Sylhet

18 March 2015, Nirapad News: Robbers shot at two members of a family and looted valuables from two expatriates’ houses at Baliteka village in Jakiganj upazila early Wednesday.

Locals said a gang of armed robbers, numbering 10-12, stormed the houses of two expatriate brothers Shamsu Miah and his brother Badrul Miah at the village at about 2:00 am by breaking open the door and held the house inmates hostage at gunpoint.

They looted gold ornaments, cash and other valuables worth Tk 6 lakhs from the houses.

The hoodlums opened fire at their two neighbours Shakhawat Ali Khan and Bablu Khan as they rushed to the spot after hearing the scream of the victim’s family members.

The injured were admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.

Officer-in-Charge of Jakiganj Police Station Shafiqur Rahman confirmed the incident.
