Two killed in separate Chandpur train accidents in 24 hours

Two people were killed and one was injured in separate accidents caused by Sagarika Express train in Chandpur over 24 hours.

The deceased were identified as Mehedi Hasan 28, son of Bachchu Sheikh, of Chandpur municipality, and Zahirul Islam.

Witnesses and police sources said Chandpur-bound Sagarika Express coming from Chattogram hit Mehedi Hasan’s motorcycle at a railway crossing in the Wireless area of the district town around12 noon on Saturday, leaving him dead on the spot and his friend Rajan Khan, 30, critically injured.

The injured was admitted to Chandpur Sadar Hospital.

On Friday afternoon, Zahirul was hit by the train in Enayetpur area on the Chandpur-Laksham railway, leaving him dead.

Railway police OC Murad Hossain said the bodies were sent to Sadar Hospital morgue.

Chandpur Railway Station Master Shohaibul Sikder said they will investigate the incidents. However, the rail crossing where Mehedi Hasan died was not approved by the railways.
