U-19 Cricket, BD beat Afghanistan by four wickets
23 November 2015, Nirapad News: A six-wicket haul by Shawon enabled Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket team to taste the first victory in their 2nd match of the Tri-Nation One day Cricket beating Afghanistan U-19 team by four wickets with 92 balls remaining at the Jadavpur University Complex in Kolkata Sunday, reports UNB.
Visiting Bangladesh team made a frustrating start in the meet after suffering a 82-run defeat against hosts India Friday while Afghanistan also conceded a 33-run defeat against India in their first match Saturday.
In the day’s match, Afghanistan batted first after winning the toss and was bundled out cheaply for 85 runs in 30.4 overs, featuring 37 runs in the opening stand by Hazratullah and Ihsanullah in 10 overs.
Opener Hazratullah contributed the team highest 32 runs off 40 balls hitting six fours and one six while another opener Ihsanullah scored 30-ball 14 runs with a boundary.
No other Afghan batsmen were able reach the double figure against devastating bowling by Saleh Ahmed Shawon, who claimed six wickets for 10 runs in his 7.4 overs spell with two maidens.
Mehedy Hasan Miraj took two wickets for 19 runs.
In reply, Bangladesh Under-19 team easily reached their target scoring 89 runs for the loss of six wickets in 34.4 overs with opener Saif Hasan making 98-ball 32 runs with six boundaries.
Besides, one down Nazmul Hasan Shanta contributed 44-ball 19 runs including two fours while two down Zakir Hasan scored 26-ball 13 hitting two boundaries.
Ziaur Rahman and Karim Janat claimed two wickets each giving away 20 and 23 runs respectively.
