UGC keen to set up stronger ties with UK varsities

04 November 2015,Nirapad News: University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan today urged the British Government to increase the number of scholarships and fellowships for Bangladeshi students in UK universities.

“UGC is also keenly interested in establishing stronger ties with the UK universities for internationalization of higher education,” he said.

UGC Chairman made the appeal when Deputy British High Commissioner in Dhaka Mark Clayton paid a courtesy call on UGC chairman at his office, a press release said here today.

Deputy Director of Trade and Investment of British High Commission, Dhaka, Suraya Jahan also attended.

They also discussed various aspects of higher education including collaborative research and exchange of students.

UGC Members Prof Dr Mohammad Mohabbat Khan, Prof Dr Abul Hashem, Prof Dr Md Akhtar Hossain, Prof Dr Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah, Prof Dr Dil Afroza Begum and UGC Secretary Dr M Khaled, among others were present on the occasion.
