US, Australia lag behind Bangladesh on personal security
03 October 2015, Nirapad News: According to 2015 Gallup law and order index released recently, Bangladesh is well ahead of Australia, the USA, Italy, France and India in terms of ‘personal security’.
Singapore ranked top scoring 89 in the survey while the score of Bangladesh, Japan and New Zealand scored 78 each.
Besides, the USA and Australia ranked 38th and 39th respectively scoring 77 while Bangladesh ranked 30th.
The report released on September 24 this year relating the higher the index score, the higher the proportion of residents in a country who feel safe.
Gallup’s Law and Order Index is a worldwide measure that gauges people’s sense of personal security in their neighborhoods and their personal experiences with crime and law enforcement.
This index is important for leaders to monitor because of the strong relationships between these measures and external measures related to economic and social development.
The Global Law and Order report presents Gallup’s latest index results, based on more than 142,000 interviews with adults in 141 countries in 2014.
But, Cricket Australia canceled its scheduled tour to Bangladesh showing security concern on Thursday.
Besides, Canada, United States and the United Kingdom, Italy had issued travel alert on traveling of their citizens following the killing of an Italian citizen in the city.
